I got tired of reaching for each monitor's menu buttons just to change brightness, so I built a tiny Windows tray app for it. Click the sun icon in the tray and you get one slider per display: • Laptop screens: Windows' built-in brightness control (WMI) • External monitors: DDC/CI over HDMI, DisplayPort or USB-C, which changes the real backlight • Everything else (TVs, DisplayLink docks, monitors with DDC/CI off): a software dimming overlay It's a single ~330 KB exe with no installer or runtime, written in Rust against raw Win32. When the popup is closed it uses 0% CPU and about 250 KB of RAM. It follows your light/dark theme and can start with Windows. It's fully open source (MIT), so you can grab the exe from Releases or build it yourself: https://github.com/PriyanshuGeTRekT/Universal-Monitor-Brightness-control Feedback and issues are welcome, especially from people with unusual monitor setups. https://preview.redd.it/r3gs2h3d2esh1.png?width=2560&format=png&auto=webp&s=fc9935e5fe334f38bad722a7be0089503e8a8c42
