[Showcase] tmux-companion – status bar + inbox for multiple Claude Code panes (open source, free)

The slow and unproductive part was finding which pane was still working vs which one had been waiting on a question for ten minutes. Over a few days that was 70 waits on my machine; I was losing time to tab patrol and scrollback. What it does: • Agent count on the tmux status bar • Inbox key: only the agents waiting on me, with the question, enter jumps to the pane • Brief: what needs me across projects after time away • Journal of long runs, questions, and project open/close • Project sessions + optional session save/resurrect (reboot) Built for Claude Code (and similar CLI agents) running as normal processes in tmux panes, not a fork of Claude or a cloud dashboard. How Claude Code helped build it: I use Claude Code in tmux as the main coding agent for this repo. I had daemon based process build for handling my tmux status bar segments for lower resource usage and faster generation of those segments. Originally I wrote it in go later claude ported it to rust named it tmux-companion. Claude had built benchmarking scripts for me to validate ideas. Design and measurement (status cost, journal counts) were much clear to act on. I also had more than dozen zsh scripts laying around that were used in tmux config doing various task. Claude integrating them in tmux-companion in less than a day mainly because I kept deciding and changing things like tui libraries, cli arguments, documentation.
