I built a way to connect Claude to your iPhone Home Screen

I built Glance, an iOS app that lets Claude create, design, and update widgets directly on your iPhone Home Screen. I used Claude extensively while building it, both for development and for figuring out how the agent interaction should work. Claude helped me write and debug parts of the Swift/WidgetKit implementation, work through the MCP integration, design the tool schemas Claude uses to create widgets, and iterate on how generated UIs get translated into something that actually works inside an iOS widget. More recently I built an MCP specifically so Claude itself can interact with Glance. The interesting part for me is that Claude is no longer just helping build the app. It can now actually become part of the product. For example, I can connect Claude to Glance and ask: “Create a Home Screen widget that shows me the two latest Claude/Anthropic stories.” Claude can create the widget, choose the layout, populate it, and later update the content again through the MCP. Some other things people have made: language-learning flash cards personal news widgets email/Slack summaries daily briefs and progress trackers puzzles and riddles shared widgets that other people can follow One thing I found surprisingly difficult was giving an LLM enough control over the UI without letting it generate layouts that break WidgetKit’s fairly constrained environment. A lot of the work ended up being around defining a component system and tool interface that gives Claude flexibility while still keeping the output valid. The project is free to try, including the Claude/MCP connection.
