Built a little podcast sync service for myself

Two years ago, I stopped using Apple Podcasts, Spotify and all of those things because ... F them. I still listened to podcasts using AntennaPod. Especially during my back and forth work commutes. But I have multiple devices and a MacBook and a Linux laptop. So getting everything in sync was a pain in the ass. Using our dear friends, Claude Code and Codex, I was able to scratch a little itch for myself. I have a little Django server, it's been running on forever and ever. So I said, okay, let me make an absolute minimalist gPodder compliant API there. Added extra capabilities to sync the play queue, play duration and timestamps. Cool, the API is done. Now my podcast RSS subscriptions are managed in that Django API ... and .. a little web client that I made for managing subscriptions stored centrally on my VM. Then all I needed to do was create an absolute minimal battery efficient Android app that provides me a minimal UI that I need for this and I was able to do so. So my multiple Android devices have this app. It's a private app, not on the App Store built for myself. And when it comes to listening to podcasts on my MacBook or my KDE device, the web is enough. So the same Django web server has a little static HTML page that uses the API and performs the role of a podcast client for me. Super proud about all of this. It's just a little thing, not a big thing, but quality of life improvement by owning my podcast subscriptions and playback / sync status across multiple devices.
